Abstract:
Tuning Educational Structures in Europe (2000-2009 is a universities’ driven project which aims to offer a universal approach to implement the Bologna Process at the level of Higher Education Institutions and subject areas. It is one of the few projects in Europe that actually links the political objectives set in the Bologna Declaration of 1999 and in the following Ministerial Conferences of Prague, Berlin, Bergen and London to the Higher Education sector.
In order to attain its objective, Tuning has developed a unique, simple and complete methodology and a common language to design, implement, deliver and enhance study programmes for each of the Bologna cycles.
Project objectives:
mapping of progression
establishment of subject area based working groups for literature, linguistics, theology and art history.
preparation of subject area and sectoral level descriptors for the levels 3, 4 and 5
identification of communalities and differences at subject area level with regard to all nine subject areas and preparation of sectoral descriptors for the levels 3 to 8.
identification of (ECTS) credit ranges for the levels 3 to 5 as well as exploration of the link to the ECVET initiative;
identification of suggestions for fine tuning and bridging of the Bologna (Dublin) descriptors and the descriptors of the EQF for LLL.
testing of the provisional and final results during the running period of the project by admission offices at institutional level as well as (national) entities specialized in the recognition of prior learning.
